What IP Rating Do Your Cameras Have?
The IP rating of an automotive camera indicates how well its enclosure protects internal components from dust, moisture, rain, and temporary water exposure. Most exterior camera models in our product range are designed with IP67 protection, while selected heavy-duty models may support IP68 depending on the housing design, connector structure, and installation environment.
IP67-rated cameras are fully protected against dust and can withstand temporary immersion in water under defined test conditions. This level of protection is suitable for rear-view, side-view, front-view, and commercial vehicle applications where cameras are regularly exposed to rain, road spray, mud, and vehicle washing. IP68 models offer enhanced water-resistance for more demanding applications, although the exact test depth and duration vary by model.
Our dash cam products are generally installed inside the vehicle cabin, so their enclosure requirements differ from exterior cameras. A TPMS / tire pressure monitoring system uses sealed sensors designed to tolerate temperature changes, moisture, and wheel vibration. A 360 bird view system / 360 degree camera normally uses multiple exterior cameras with waterproof housings to provide a complete view around the vehicle.
Each car camera / vehicle camera should be installed using the supplied gasket, cable seal, and waterproof connector. For systems that integrate with an Android navigation screen / Android car stereo, the display unit is usually installed indoors while the connected cameras require suitable exterior protection. The same principle applies to a car monitor used with reversing or side-view cameras.
A parking sensor and a vehicle monitoring system may include multiple components with different protection ratings. Exterior sensors and cameras usually need strong dust and water resistance, while control modules and displays are typically mounted inside the cabin or equipment compartment.
Actual IP performance depends on correct installation. Damaged seals, loose connectors, modified cables, or incorrect mounting can reduce waterproof protection. Pressure washing at very close range should also be avoided unless the specific model is approved for that condition.
